Who doesn’t love a trip to a German market during this time of year? It’s certainly one of the easiest ways to get yourself into the festive spirit with all of the cute stalls, yummy foods and twinkling lights.
I haven’t been to many German markets but the one in Birmingham has been a favourite of mine for a number of years. I haven’t found the time to go there this year (sob) but I can still reminisce. I thought I’d share a few nice pictures from my past visits just to prove how pretty and festive it is.
It’s not just stalls there; you can go ice-skating too! Nothing more festive than ice-skating followed by a marshmallowy hot chocolate.
Or you can go for a ride on the ferris wheel, a.k.a. a good way to spot the next food stall that you want to try.
View from the top of the ferris wheel over the ice rink! Pretty, right?
And a generic shot of Birmingham just for the sake of it. I really like coming to the German market in the late afternoon/evening because that’s when it really pops.

If you’re looking for a way to get into the Christmas spirit fast, I’d recommend paying a visit to a German market! A very nice day/evening out and you can find many little gifts for the people in your lives while you’re at it.
Which German markets do you enjoy visiting?

I’d love to visit the German Christmas market. My husband has been there once (with his work mates, a few years), but I never made it. I need to remember to go next year. Thanks for reminding me! 🙂

You definitely should, even if it’s just for an hour or two! xo

I’m based in London, so I’d have to take a day off. But I really want to go next year. Maybe I can organise a work trip!
